Fine Art – Featuring "Winter from Above"
Winter from Above
It is an art to show the everyday and the common from a different perspective. A perspective which will awaken curiosity, engage, surprise and — at least for a moment — transport the viewer up, to contemplate the world from above it all.
It is an art to disconnect from the earthly and join the heavenly.
The Winter from Above series is a result of passion, commitment, love of flying and photography. For an experienced pilot and an accomplished photographer, this marriage is a natural way of expressing the beauty of the world as seen from above. It is also the appreciation of the simplicity and the elegance of nature. It offers a unique way to look at common things from a different perspective.
It is the world where familiar objects take new shapes by vividly contrasting against featureless backgrounds, often recognizable only by the shadow they cast. Some structures remain unknown until the viewer dives into the details. The featureless background makes the images appear almost graphic, crossing the boundary between photography and drawing.
All photographs in this series have been taken from Cessna 172, a personal airplane and flight trainer. In the majority of the cases, I am piloting the plane and photographing at the same time. This configuration allows him the full control over the attitude of the plane – so critical to the outcome. Sometimes, a safety pilot is present to monitor the flight. Each flight is a mission that requires careful planning ⎯ the weather, the visibility, the winds, the angle of the sun⎯all must come together at the right time and place.

Privacy concerns prevent me from showing the works in client’s homes.
However, here is an opportunity to see how great those pieces look in a gallery setting. The photographs have been taken during previous solo shows in Poland. More information about those exhibits can be found here
Looking for Zen – open edition prints
Small-format square prints are an attempt to find a harmony between different viewpoints. As a complete set, they also offer the viewer a transition from the natural to the urban, while maintaining the simple and clear aesthetic. They are printed with great detail on the same high quality textured fine-art paper as their larger sibling.
The complete set of 27 has been exhibited together, and select images can be perfect companion to any space. From an open collection, the prints can be purchased immediately in my on-line print store either framed or raw.
